Once again many thanks to everyone that attended in-person and online, and the new participants a hearty welcome! Thank you Brian for being so great with being on top of the notes, my apologies for my delay in posting. Remember we won't be meeting in April until the THIRD Saturday due to some schedule conflicts. So, next meeting is April 16th, 1:00 pm Pacific Time. See you all then. Namarie! -Hawke

  3. Discussion: does any other fantasy author start with language?

  4. Orc words: Burz= dark; Agh= into; Um = bad

  5. Melody comments re: Owen Barfield’s Poetic Diction. Did this influence Tolkien? ** (Needs further research, anyone want to take this up?)

  6. Richard—thought that there was some ref. in Peoples of Middle Earth to Orcish language borrowed from other languages, none of their own. **  (Needs further research, anyone want to take this up?)

  7. Hawke read out loud an article about Mr. Bliss.

  8. Began reading Mr. Bliss, Tolkien’s short story for children. All take turns passing it around and reading.
